Surrealism - comparisons

Even though all of these images are different and have been taken on different shoots, they are all practice shoots for my final image and link in different ways. They are all surreal images and digital manipulation has taken place in all of them. I'm happy with all the images apart from image 4 as I don't think the image is very effective, and also looks very unrealistic.
The third image was from my first practice shoot that I did, it's very light and fairy tale like, where the 3 other images are all quite dark and gloomy. After doing my second shoot which is the second image I found that I really liked working with the darker side of surrealism and you could explain so many more emotions this way.
The second image which was my second practice shoot which was in the style of Joaquin Villaverde. This is when I first came across the black eyes which I thought looked really good, and really effective to viewers. I found that a lot of his work used a great deal of digital manipulation, but the only thing I wanted to take from his work was the eye effect.

The third shoot I did, which is the first image, I focused on photoshopping something in to the image. I decided that with the angle of the model it would look really good to add in some dark angel wings, and try and make the image look dark and surreal with out focusing on the face.

My last shoot I did before finally doing my final shoot is the fourth image. I'm not to happy with the outcome of this image, I tried to edit the zip on to the models face and look like it was unzipping into something darker but unfortunately it didn't turn out as well as I hoped. But then again it was a great learning curve and it means over the next couple weeks I can practice and watch tutorials to help develop my Photoshop skills.
