Even though for my project i'm looking at surrealism, after looking at Joaquin villaverde's black and white surreal portraits with the smooth texture i'm kind of thinking about doing a dark surreal portrait for my final images. Benoit Courti does a lot of black and white work which are mainly done as portraits or focusing on something that someone is doing.
I choose Courti to look at because I found a surreal look in his images which caught my eye. This image of the little girl blowing a bubble shows so much detail and emotion. It just shows that by making an image black and white completely changes the images expression. My first thought when I think of blowing bubbles is summer and being happy and yet you don't get that vibe from this image.
The second image here I like because the hand and dices are so crisp and clear and the model is faded in the background. This image here makes me question the importance of the dices, like are they suppose to mean something? To me when I look at this image i see a man who's giving in too gambling and the more he gambles the more he faded's and the clearer the dices become.
