I'd go as far to say that Joaquin Villaverde is a surreal photographer as he does use manipulation techniques with in his work to erase parts of his models faces and bodies. Because of the fact that when you view his images you question what is going on, you question if they're suppose to be human which straight away puts him in to the category of being a surreal photographer even if his work does show a lot of horror related scenes. Creating these images would mean going though a process on Photoshop where layer masks and textures are created as well as getting the correct colour tone to get that smooth look and too camouflage the area that is being covered up. The original image needs to be pretty slight to start off with so that the outcome is more believable as bringing down the tones and covering areas up is much easier and does create a real nice surreal look.
I'd like to have ago at experimenting in the same style as I do like the look of the horror theme that Vallaverde creates in his work. I especially want to try something like the image in the top left hand corner, as it stands out to me more than the other images do. By exploring this it then gives me a wider range of techniques I can use in my final images for the end of this project.
