When we first got our briefing after coming back from the christmas holidays, it didn't appeal to me as a photographer as it wasn't the style that I liked to work in. After the first week doing research and looking at photographers shown in contextual studies it really started to get me thinking about what I could do to represent my research in to gender equallity, relgion and culture, disabilites, sexualities etc.
These past couple weeks I've looked at photographers like Dorothea Lange, Sarah Lucas and Lewis Hein, who have been a big inspiration in my work based on their styles and messages behind their images. I have also found the information given in contexual studies to be a big help on final ideas as I struggled to come up with a final idea.
Doing this project has changed the type of photography that I like to take, before I was very much in to fashion photography but now after finishing this project I would like to get more in to photo journalism, and carry on forwards with that in the future as I very much enjoyed exploiting things that were not common knowlege to people that should be more none by everyone. I also enjoyed doing the research and explanding my knowledge on different topics that I never even knew about.
My final images were taken in the cove studio and im pleased with how they turned out. I've never really liked dong studio work, but I though I would try something different and push myself to try more things and by doing that I now want to start doing more studio work in other projects.
My frst idea for this project ws to capture peoples reactions on facts and stastics about gender equality, I wanted my images to show their first reaction when hearing what I had to say. Unfortuantly I didn't think about the fact that when someone reacts their whole body move and the images came out quite blurry. So I went with plan B, still using the same facts and statics but instead I would ask the models for their opinions and capture a portrait of them attaching the their comments on to the images which worked a lot better.
I've enjoed doing this project a lot, I've learnt something new every day and I feel i've been able to show my skill's off a lot more in this project, projecting my own emotions and feelings in to my work.
