I had a look in to facts and statics on voilence against women and girls on the website UK/ Feminista and I was left completely shocked at what I was reading. According to this webiste on an average two women a week are killed by a voilent partner or ex partner in the UK, that is 104 deaths a year roughly and about 3 million women and girls all around the uk will experinces rape, domestic voilence, stalking or other voilentence each day. Even in safe enviroments 1 in 3 girls will experence unwanted touching at school.

Not only that 36% of people believe that a woman should be held wholly or partly responsible for being sexually assaulted or raped if she was drunk and 26% believe this if she was in public wearing 'sexy' or revealing clothes.

In the work place, Up to 30,000 women are sacked each year simply for being pregnant and each year an estimated 440,000 women lose out on pay or promotion as a result of pregnancy. Also More women than men work part-time after having children: 38% of women with dependent children and only 7% of men with dependent children work part-time. Cuts to benefits disproportionately affect women as benefits typically make up a fifth of women’s incomes, as opposed to a tenth of men’s.

The website covered a range of points that should be more commanily known, after reading through each individual point and researching more in to it for myself, I now feel more confident for my shoot, and putting across these facts or questions in a way that will educate other's around me who are unware of these facts and staticts.
